Letter from the Principal

Welcome to Perry Elementary! I am excited for another school year at Perry Elementary School. “We Are Perry!” is our motto as we are unique and provide different opportunities to our students. We have started to live our mission, vision, and values that not only define us, but also will drive us into the future. Our mission, “Inspiring all learners to reach their individual potential” will be the focus of programming for students, staff, and parents.

Our school’s strategic plan calls for a more student-centered approach to education. One way we are doing that at Perry Elementary is the development of individual work plans and personalized learning. Our teachers have been working more with small groups that focus on the individual needs of students. Grouping of students is done by analyzing data collected from district and classroom assessments and targeting specific skills that are fundamental for learning concepts for each student. Individual work plans are developed for students to complete certain tasks and/or activities to continue to develop skills and concepts. This is happening in more classrooms in the area of Reading and Language Arts compared to math, but math will be an area that will be focused on in the future. As a result of this, our children are able to receive more intensive instruction and assistance throughout the year that meets their needs. We are really excited about how this is allowing us to meet students where they are at to make more individual growth of students.

One of the values we will continue to make a point of emphasis will be having Perry Elementary to be a safe and supportive environment. Perry is a school rich with traditions and building positive experiences for your child and relationships with families. You, as parents and family members, are a vital part of your child’s learning experiences. I encourage you to be involved with your child’s education by keeping in close contact with your child’s teacher and promote regular student attendance.

This is going to be an exciting year and it is a privilege that we are all a part of the rich traditions and building towards the future at Perry Elementary.

Sincerely,

Mr. Frank Mandera
